Transferring Assets
Transferring an asset involves 3 main steps where you work with 1 wizard:
ü
Search for and select asset to dispose. |
ü
Enter transfer details: Transfer Asset Wizard. |
Access Fixed Assets
1.
From the Main Menu screen, click ASSETS. The Browse Assets screen appears with all active assets displayed in a table. |
Search For and Select Asset
2.
Select how you want to order the asset table from the ordered by drop-down list. |
3.
Type your search criteria into the search for field and click GO. The table will sort accordingly. (This is a wildcard search field. For example, if you select to order by description, if you enter “lawn mower,” the first record with “lawn mower” in the description will be highlighted.) |
Note: To make your search quicker and easier, you may select to filter the table by “class” and/or “site.”
4.
Highlight the asset you want to transfer and click on the toolbar. The Maintain Assets screen opens. |
Enter Transfer Details
5.
Click and select “Transfer Asset.” The Transfer Asset Wizard is initiated. The location groups on the left are in an “outline” or “tree” view. If a particular location group has other groups within it, that group has either a plus sign (+) or a minus sign (-) in front of it. |
6.
Click the plus sign to expand the group and then highlight the group you want to work with from the expanded list. The locations within the selected location group appear on the right side of the screen. (You can click the minus sign to collapse the group and hide the other groups within it. If there is no plus or minus sign in front of a particular group, that group has no other groups within it. However, it could still contain individual locations, which will appear on the right.) |
7.
Select the location from the list on the right to which you want to transfer the asset and click START. |
8.
Select the account class for the asset. The account class identifies the asset’s development, depreciation method, and useful life, as well as four general ledger accounts for financial reporting. |
9.
Click NEXT and specify the date placed (date of the transfer). |
Review and Finish
10.
Click NEXT, review and confirm the information you have set up, and then click FINISH. You have successfully transferred an asset! |
